It was bound to happen…
Our 70 degree weather has up and gone south.
Yesterday was a rainy day with the temperatures not getting outta the 60’s.
No rain today, but the expected high is a chilly 62 degrees.
But, what the hey? I’m feeling good, eating healthy and, for a change, sleeping like a baby…
Sure hope you’re doing good, too.
Anyway, it’s time for another edition of our weekly favorite Aging News.

The Key To Healthy Aging Is Simpler Than You Think:
This week I read a short article penned by Colin Milner, CEO of the International Council on Active Aging and founder of the Active-Aging Industry In North America.
Mr. Milner relates the answer to his question “How do we live a long and healthy life?” that he had asked of the then Surgeon General of the United States, Dr. Richard Carmona, Dr. Carmona’s answer:
Exercise. Eat right. Get plenty of sleep. And avoid alcohol and tobacco…”
Ah, short but sweet.
Just the way we like it, huh?

News Item 2:
Childhood stress, Psychiatric Disorders Linked To Accelerated Aging:
…In a new study published online in Biological Psychiatry on January 16, 2015, researchers from Butler Hospital identify an association between biological changes on the cellular level and both childhood adversity and psychiatric disorders…”
Researchers are also saying that psychosocial factors, specifically childhood problems and psychiatric disorders, may also influence cellular changes which could well lead to accelerated aging.

Dumb old me, I didn’t we’d lost them, the keys, that is…
But like I always say, the more ways we can use to feel good as we age, the better.
Well, I don’t actually ever say that, but you never know, I might. Oh yeah, guess I just said it, didn’t I?
Anyway, one those keys to successful aging is: “Experts say the keys to successful aging include accepting change and finding meaningful activities.”
Yep, having a reason to get up in the morning is pure magic. I highly recommend you get some of that stuff for yourself.

Is The U.S. Government Punking Social Security’s COLA Formula?
98% of the seniors responding to a recent poll done by the Senior Citizens League, think so.
The Senior Citizens League even published a recent article that said, in part:
…that government manipulation is essentially a given, arguing that “Unbeknownst to most of the public, the federal government has quietly made numerous changes to the methodology used for the nation’s inflation measurement…”
But, In a more recent article, the folks at Motley Fool, says it ‘ain’t so.

Insightful and amusing article, by Linda Tyssen, describes her take on the art of growing older.
While I don’t personally exhibit all of the aging experiences she mentioned, I certainly found myself nodding along as I read her article.
