6 Tips for Hosting a Great Boat Party
If you’ve reached the age when you have plenty of free time and money that you can spend however you want, one of the first things you’ll treat yourself with is probably a nice boat. And what a better way to celebrate such an investment than by organizing a boat party? If this sounds like something you’d definitely enjoy, here are six things you should do if you want your boat party to be the best one ever.
For starters, you need to come up with a guest list – or at least an estimate of how many people there will be on the boat.
This way, you’ll know how much food you’ll need, and if you’re renting a boat, it can also help you choose the right size.
Just try not to invite too many people, because even boats have a limit on how many people they can hold.
Plus, you want everybody to enjoy the party, not wish they could jump off because they hardly have enough room to stand.
Inform your guests
As a good host, you should invite your guests on time so they can make any necessary arrangements, especially if they have young kids that can’t be left alone. Keep them informed if there are any changes, and let them know what they can expect at the party. Moreover, if you want to have a themed party, don’t forget to tell them what the theme is so they know how to dress and what to bring.
Plan the activities
Regardless of whether your party will be held at night or during the day, you should have some activities planned in advance. Of course, there will be lots of talking and laughing, but you’re there to have fun, not just catch up. With that in mind, you could organize a fishing competition, karaoke, trivia games, remote-controlled boat races, or something similar. Just make sure everybody is engaged in the fun.
Think about the food and drinks
Needless to say, you should have plenty of food and drinks for your guests, but what kind of food and drinks is up to you.
If you’re holding a themed party, look for food that complements the theme, even if only through color. If you’re into something more casual, you can never go wrong with pizza, and you can always ask your guests if they have any special desires or requests.
The same goes for drinks, just make sure to offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Don’t forget about safety
Keep in mind where you are and ensure that everybody is safe, especially if you intend to serve alcohol – you don’t want anybody to go overboard. Keep the deck well-lit if you’re planning on holding an evening party, and always check the weather before sailing off.
Also, keep your boat safe in case of any damage. You’ve surely seen various insurance companies in the newspapers and on TV – check out some of them, like the latest Youi NZ news, and inform yourself about their offers and benefits.
Finally, make sure all your guests arrive home safely, and thank them for attending the party. You can send them an online thank you note, or if you’re looking for something a bit more practical, you can gift them something simple like koozies or customized bottle openers. This way, you can rest assured that they will remember your party for a long time – and gladly attend another one in the future.
If you’ve always wanted to have a boat, it’s understandable that you’ll want to celebrate your dream coming true as soon as possible. Therefore, invite your friends in time, provide enough delicious food for everybody, take care of the entertainment and safety, and your boat party will definitely be one to remember.
