As most days are around here…
It’s another beautiful day here in Panama City, Florida.
And, I’m sure gonna miss them when I’m living back in Michigan!
Which I will be doing before the end of this month.
Although we’re still in Florida, we’re already 2 weeks into the year’s lease I did on a townhouse in Marshall, MI.
Marshall is a nice little town of 7,000, just outside of Battle Creek, and I’ve always liked it.
Come next January, we’ll see how much I like it when the snow’s flying and the wind’s howling…
And, that’s the only thing I’ve ever had against Michigan…
I feel my best on sunny days with temperatures somewhere north of 80 degrees.
Conditions I’ve gotten used to during my 23 years living in Bay County, Florida.
On the other hand:
Since we lost our sweet son, Walker, we’ve lived here without any family near.
For us, getting older seems to increase the longing to have our family closer.
Especially our son Benjamin, and his children.
And, bless his heart, for over a year, he did try living down here.
Didn’t work out for him.
Plus, he missed the rest of his family, and his many friends, back in Michigan.
And, so do we…
Miss the rest of our family up in Michigan, that is.
While our moving decision may seem sudden, we’ve always had to balance Florida living’s quality of life, against missing out on family life.
As our Mom’s got older, and, little by little, frail, isolating ourselves in Florida felt more and more like pure selfishness.
Yet, thoughts of those fierce ‘Northern Winters’ held us here.
But, our longing to live within the mix of our family, has finally overcome our dread and lingering doubts.
So, we’re off to Marshall, Michigan, in… let’s see… 10 days and 17 hours!
Lord have pity on us…
