Another great day to be alive.
Later in the day, we’re expecting a little rain to blow in from the Gulf of Mexico.
But, at least it’s warmer with the temperatures in the mid 70’s. Still cooler than usual, but ‘they’ say that normal is just around the proverbial corner.
I hope it’s also getting back to normal at your place, too.
Anyway, it’s time for another edition of our weekly favorite Aging News.
And, we’ll begin with …
Eating Less Could Slow The Aging Process and Help Maintain A Strong Memory:
Back in the 1970’s and ’80’s there were group of researchers and journalist touting near-starvation diets as the Fountain of Youth.
While the theory never completely went away, it was kinda debunked, at least in the ‘Media’.
Well, hold on to your wig, because new studies have re-birthed it:
…Recent research says the classic calorie-restriction diet could lead to health benefits beyond weight loss, particularly in the domain of memory and warding off age-related disease…”
This is according to a team of neuroscientists at New York University’s Langone Medical Center Diet Slows Aging Process

This is a follow-up to a previous Senior Bilked Outta 50 Thousand Dollars news item.
It seems a no-good senior citizen befriended his dementia suffering neighbor and then screwed the ailing neighbor for a total of 50 K.
The court has now sentenced the crook to 5 years of prison. Hope it was ‘hard labor’. You can read the story when you click on the following blue link: Senior Scammer Sentenced
Anti-Aging Drug Being Developed:
Harvard University scientists David Sinclair, thinks he’s on to a fix for aging muscles.
If he’s right, and he’s proved it with lab mice, we’re looking at a future with horny 60 year-olds running around sporting physiques commonly found on people in their twenty’s. Oh, the horror…

High Fat Diet Slows Brain Aging:
In a new study by the Center for Healthy Aging at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark and the National Institute of Health, found that a high-fat diet slowed down the aging processes.
They also found that the fatty-acids in coconut oil gave the brain an extra energy boost and helped keep it strong and healthy.
As you may know, I’m a big fan of coconut oil as a nutritional supplement. Read my post: The Health Benefits of Coconut Oil
