How ya doin’?
Eating healthy, with fruits and vegetables for snacks?
Are you sleeping 7 – 9 hours, nightly?
Are you drinking half your body weight in ounces of filtered water… every day?
And, exercising at least 30 minutes daily?
Those are the 4 basic steps for increasing your longevity.

The other day I mentioned I was doing a 21 day body detox, or a body cleansing.
The dude pimping the program, is calling the process, a body re-set.
But, it’s seems more of a detox or body cleanse, to me.
I’m not yet foolish enough to do this on my own.
Nope, a famous MD, who is also a licensed naturopathic physician, is advising me with this. (Because I haven’d asked his permission, I won’t mention his name, which is one you’d probably recognize.)
He has his own TV show, a popular national radio show and I’ve read his book, so he’s ‘all that’ and a bag of cool ranch chips..!”
He’s advising me?
Who’m I kidding?
He’s set strict action steps for me to follow.
Today, I’m 16 days in.
And, I’ve hated limiting myself to only the food and supplements he has me chowing down.
They’re healthy foods, but 16 days without my Diet Pepsi isn’t doing much for my immediate quality of life…
Take my breakfast menu, for example:
- 3/4 scoop of some awful tasting nutritional power
- 12 – 16 oz of filtered water
- add cup of blueberries, or strawberries
- blend the gloop till well mixed (I use our Magic Bullet)
- choke it all down
- swallow four assorted nutritional supplements (prescribed and sold by the Doctor)
- yup, That’s Breakfast!
He also prescribed generous snacks between meals:
one fruit (apple, orange, etc) and a handful of nuts, preferably raw almonds, which I happen to like.
My lunch and dinner menu are the same, with the exception of 6 supplements taken after dinner.
Lunch and Dinner Menu:
- 8 oz of grilled meat, or fish, or eggs
- green salad (I eat raw turnip greens)
- avocado, or 10 olives
I started out with steak, something I rarely eat. Within two days I was sick of it. Then I moved on to eating fish, which I like.
But, I like my fish fried, with my favorite being catfish.
No, no… NO bottom-feeding fish! Sez the good doctor…
And, along with catfish, outta the window went my other favorite fishy meal, fresh shrimp.
So, it’s now eggs for lunch and dinner, eggs for dinner and lunch, and eggs for lunch and dinner, and…
Mostly boiled eggs, though.
I’ve eaten so many eggs lately, that I dreaming about chasing chickens around and around.
And, man oh man, I’m tired of peeling eggshells!
But, eggs are very good for us. (In almost every case, they’re probably a better choice than red meat…)
My results, so far:
- I’ve been sleeping pretty good, not always easy for me.
- Lost maybe 5 pounds, which I didn’t need to lose.
- My energy levels are lower, though. Not much, but noticeably.
- Doc sez that these too will change.
If you’re squeamish about bodily functions, don’t read the next paragraph…
My bowel movements have changed from regular as a finely tuned Swiss watch, to sorta like the early stages of irritable bowel syndrome.
I truly hate this change!
Again, old Doc sez this too shall pass.
But, Doctor, that’s the problem, there’s too much damn passing going on!
With such poor results, why am I still doing the detox/cleansing?
First off, I don’t like starting something and not finishing.
And, my investment is already approaching $700.00.
Also, when we’re finished, he’s supposed to order some extensive blood work that will show a clearer picture how my body’s organs are functioning.
I wanna know what’s going on with the old bod.
If need be, I can then make some nutritional and lifestyle adjustments for better health.
And, perhaps safely get off some of the 5 daily prescription drugs I’ve taken for years.
That’s what I’m really after!
I’ll let you know how all this turns out. Stay tuned…
